Day 45 - Thursday 22 October - Iona

An earlyish start in an effort to make the 11.15 ferry to Iona, however the drive down the Ross area of Mull is long and spectacular, necessitating frequent stops. We caught the 12.15 ferry over to Iona, leaving the MH in Fionnphort. Iona abbey was shut to visitors, so we walked around a bit, inspected various shops mostly selling essential religious stuff and craft goods. A boat trip in an older sailing boat left whilst we were there - not clear where they were going - Staffa maybe? We walked to a white sand beach towards the southern end of the village, beautiful, but backed by a croft surrounded by junk. We searched in vain for a headband Sb had lost, then caught the ferry back to Mull.

We opted for the scenic route back to Salen, which was another spectacular and sometimes scary drive. No photos of the scariest bit, as we were both keen to get past it very quickly!
