Day 37 - Wednesday 14th October - Strathaird Estate - Camasunary and Elgol

Strathaird Estate belongs to the John Muir Trust, an organisation dedicated to preserving and rewilding some of Britain's most beautiful landscapes. The estate includes the Black Cuillin outlier of Bla Bheinn. We tried the walk over to the isolated bothy at Camusanary, on a beach between Elgol and Loch Coruisk, but were defeated by the steep rocky nature of the path on the way down. Great views over to the main ridge though.

We descended back to the MH, then headed on down the single track road to Elgol. We found the last trip boat of the day was fully booked, so back up the hill and heading for home via the road along the shore of Loch Slapin, we stopped for an hour of late afternoon sunshine and tea as we watched the sun go behind Bla Bheinn.

Back at the camp site in Ashaig we walked down to the beach. Not much of the beach was visible as it was a very high tide, but the sunset was good.
