Day 42 - Monday 19th October - Fort William

It rained heavily all night. After a lazy start we went for a drive up Glen Nevis, intending to get to the Upper Falls, and to see the river now it was full. This nearly ended in disaster as Andy missed the sign warning of a 3t weight limit on a bridge up the single track road. We had to do some traffic management with following cars and then a reverse and 11 point turn to get out of the situation. Phew!

We drove down to Fort William, and mooched about in the rain. It all looked very run down, and we went for lunch in a very empty pub where we had nondescript food and no beer. Pubs are currently barred from serving alcohol in Scotland, unless you have a full meal, which is why it was sad and empty.

We thought we should go and have a look at the other end of the Caledonian Canal, so we walked up Neptune's Staircase in the rain - a series of seven locks. No boating action evident though.

Back to the camp site. It carried on raining all night, again.
