Scotland - Day 7 - Tuesday 15th - Borve Camp Site, Barra and Vatersay

We were woken by a coastguard helicopter landing on the next headland. Alan told us later it was probably someone being evacuated with a medical emergency.

In the morning we drove to Castlebay first.

We carried on to Vatersay (island connected to Barra by a causeway, and walked on two beautiful beaches. We swam very briefly on the more sheltered side of the island, in wetsuits, but still absolutely freezing.

Stopped by a memorial to an RAF crew who crashed on Vatersay in 1944. Parts of the aircraft had been left at the crash site by the road.

Later we walked around the headland and to an adjacent beach, but got completely soaked (again) when the rain came in.
