Day 19 - Sunday 27th September - to Stornoway

Long walk in the morning around the road circling the Bhaltos estate (peninsula). Found a beautiful and moving memorial to men and women who resisted the Highland clearances in the 19th century, and were punished for their actions.

Walked along Reef beach and then through Cnip community, back to our surfers beach to pack up. We drove onto  Callanais  to see ritual standing stones ( started approx 3000 BC) and visited Dun Carloway Broch Tower, (built in 1st century AD)  under scaffolding for renovations.

Camped up at Laxdale caravan and camper park in Stornoway but with 4G reception and wifi, hurrah!  Andy did two loads of washing and drying, Sraddhabha was good for nothing after walking 11 k up and down the route around Bhaltos estate and a short morning beach jog. Andy's efforts were much appreciated by Sraddhabha. Clean clothes at last and bedding tomorrow. Such luxury. Small site 20 mins walk from Stornoway town centre and harbour. EHU all services, but no access to showers and toilets, hard standing on gravel £26 per night  (S) .
