Day 15 Wednesday 23rd Sept Luskentyre Beach , Tarbert and Talla na Mora

Morning lolling amongst the grassy knolls on our campsite and a walk on the beach, gluten free halloumi, tomato and mushroom wrap from the food van on site for elevenses and drove on to Luskentyre, the most famous beach in Scotland. 3 miles circuit on the beach, stunning skyscapes and views of Taransay (remember the reality TV show with Ben Fogle in Castaway?) and other islands. Drove on to Tarbert 8 miles north, from where ferry to Uig on Skye departs. Harris Island Distillery sells gin only £47 per bottle. Neither of us drink gin. I called into Harris Tweed outlet in the Harbour. All the shops on Harris Uists and Barra seem to exclusively employ  young female shop assistants...

PS when we got up the van next door had driven off leaving the broken bits of plastic spread out on the ground - ignoramuses. We cleared it up.

  1. The weird landforms in picture 2 - are they lazy beds, d'you think? Lovely beach anyway!

  2. Looks like a great trip so far. When you get to Lewis make sure to visit Callinish Stone Circle ( I can't remember whether you've been there before).

  3. P.S. I remember now - you have been to the Outer Hebrides before and had to go back suddenly due to your boy being ill.
