Set off at 11 , initially called in at Lac de Biscorosse , 90 mins from Biarritz with view to staying overnight at the lakeside campsite across the road and swimming in the calm lake. Lots of swans on the lake and the plage shore was covered with swan poo, very shallow waters to wade through - a bit off putting . The campsite pool was very small, there was a camping car Aire next to it too . We decided to press on to Arcachon , with sheltered tidal waters; it's situated on a gulf , and is a 2 hour train/ tram ride into Bordeaux. We decided to stay on a very quiet campsite by the beach , Camping de Verdallee with grass plots and hedges. It's 5 miles along a flat cycle route into Arcachon turning right from the campsite or to several fishing villages turning left. The weather looks fine for the next two days . Looking forward to catching up on our sleep . Walked on to the beach, the tide was out , so we walked on to the small marina filled with motorboats for pleasure/ fishing. This area is famous for oysters. We stopped for a coffee and sparkling water at an oyster restaurant/ hut and watched our neighbours tuck into oysters . Not for us. Delicious dinner and strawberries and yoghurt/ rice pudding (my favourite)
We are based in a municipal campsite at Plage de la Hume. Tidal river. Have to wait til tomorrow morning to swim.
