Sunday 2nd June Quinto to Jaca via Huesca

We drove to this smart ski resort, Jaca,  in the Spanish Pyrenees. We called in at Huesca en route on a hot Sunday afternoon and  wandered around this very elegant and architecturally beautiful city. We parked at the free Aire next to the football stadium shaded with trees .It took a 15 minute walk through a park to reach the centre .There was a book fayre in the central plaza  with books from every region in Spain  for sale in  the stalls and authors being interviewed on a raised dais. A folk dancing group was  performing in the park we walked through to reach the old quarter. A wealthy city. Cathedral was shut for renovations , we spotted a brown- habited  nun disappearing into a college nearby. We had a drink in the Cathedral square.Andy's always  at his most content, walking  through shopping streets when the shops are closed🙂 .We found a delicacies local produce shop open and bought cherry flavoured marmalade, a traditional recipe of the region. Loud football chanting echoed around the streets. As a local football match seemed to be starting and as previous Aire visitors had mentioned in the reviews that they had been disturbed by  local youths running through the Aire after a night's drinking , we decided to press on to a quiet campsite in nearby Jaca . The Victoria campsite had seen better days, the bar at the front was  a stop off for refreshments for  motorbikers and was full of flies , yet it was quiet on site despite the busy road next to it and the valley views on our late evening walk into Jaca a walled city were simply stupendous .

Corner shop oldest in Europe

I loved the architecture of Huesca
View of the valley just outside the campsite was beautiful
