Saturday 8th June Zumaia to Bilbao

90 mins drive from Zumaia to Bilbao, an early start to locate a pitch on the very  busy terraced  Aire overlooking the city in the Altamira region (Auto caravanning Kobetamendi) 21€ per 24 hours  incl hook- up. We got there at 10.30 am. Buses every half hour from a  few hundred yards down the hill  ( No 58) paying 1.35€ each to the bus driver. Getting off at Basuto stop, we crossed the road, and caught  the euskotren tram to the Guggenheim museum  (€1.50  pay at machine, get time stamped before entering the bus)

Spent the afternoon wandering around the permanent and temporary exhibitions, are pintxos at the reasonably priced cafe, watched the large Palestinian demonstration march past the museum in the afternoon.

Stayed til 7pm and made our weary happy way home again.

I left my camera phone behind  at the van by accident , I'm so glad I did as I was really able to spend time  dwelling in the pictures and the exhibitions . Richard Serra' s amazing curved weathered steel wavy installations to wander in and out of  on the ground floor , Martha K' s exhibition of expressionist abstract art, Cy Twombly's beautiful  triptych paintings , the red granite benches with inscriptions, I love coming here (9 € entry for concessions and over 65 . 17€ for general public)

First time we have seen Jeff Koons' 'Puppy' in flower, s/he was being replanted last time we were here in 2021.

Made entirely of bottle tops by a Nigerian artist, depicting effects of climate change, drowned cities . Incredible.
