Drove 236 miles to reach Pompei
Campsites in Pompei on the main Street looked grim large and unsafe so we headed half a mile out of town and stayed at Agriturisma La Giuliana , max of 10 vans on the farm , secure campsite , basic amenities but hot showers (25€ per night) , very hospitable hosts Pascale and Giuliana, greeted us with lemon tea and limoncello . ( Giuliana was Russian came to Italy 20 years ago loved the country and married a local ) G spoke excellent English and was very helpful working out where we wanted to go without us falling victim to ticket touts. Pompei is the most visited archeological site in Italy, 30 mins walk into the ruins from the agriturisma along v narrow pavements and negotiating a constant stream of congested traffic ; Pascale ran a very reasonable taxi service and we got a lift from him each day of our stay there.
Chilled out first night , got some provisions from a local store.
