Neapolitani Riviera trip using local transport along the Amalfi coast.Taxi to brand new railway station (Regina something ) Circumvesuvia is the local train to end of the line Sorrento (2€ each ) Very elegant cliff top hotels and balconies overlooking the harbour .I really liked the ambience of this handsome, glitzy resort and want to come back here. Caught a local ferry to Positano, 2 hour trip ( €15 each ) calling in at the impressive isle of Capri en route. 50 mins in Positano ( attractive but over crowded with day trippers) and caught the next ferry to Salerno ,(12€ each) 90 mins duration, stopping at Amalfi, another very elegant resort seen from the sea front The Amalfi coast seen from the water is delightful , villages and towns perched precipitously on each headland, can see why it's so popular as a tourist destination Train home from Salerno, fast and new train , rather than the rambling old stock of the CircumVesuvia train , we walked back to campsite for 8 pm , a sedentary but full-on sightseeing day.
