Monday 13 June Gorges de Verdon to Huttopia campsite Verdon via Moustiers

Moustiers , beautiful  village and full of artisan glace vendors (I had lavender ice cream) and resident painters and sculptors

One of the many small squares in Moustiers with sculptures by resident artists

Andy came on the le petit tourist train with me 🤣it was scorching hot 39C and catching the train up the steep hill to Moustiers, one of Provence's most beautiful villages, built into the cliff face,  seemed the most sensible thing to do.

We drove on up the Verdon. The gorges were extremely deep, and spectacular , we  couldn't see the river below,  lots of hairpin bends, low  hanging cliff  arches over the road  and very few places to stop (for a MH ) to take pictures, we drove through and Andy navigating hairpin bends very skilfully indeed.

The Huttopia Gorges de Verdon is very pretty (if you buy a riverside pitch) but is miles from anywhere and a busy fast A road connecting it to villages, daunting for the nervous cyclist We passed the reservoirs to reach the campsite but were too weary to stop again.

We are 800 plus metres up so hopefully tonight will be less suffocating.
