Thursday 2nd June 2022 Lac de Pareloup to a Flower Camping site, Le Peyrelade, in the Gorges du Tarn

We drove East, passing the Millau viaduct, and headed on up the Gorges du Tarn.

Really lucked out with this stunning site, a pitch by the river which we could swim in (strong current), a beautiful swimming pool and spa area and a pleasant terrace. The limestone cliffs the other side of the river Tarn were host to a vulture sanctuary and we could see them circling around the limestone outcrops. Everything incredibly clean. We debated for some time whether I was up to a 17 km 2 person canoe ride with Andy  through the Gorge (available from the campsite 5-6 hour trip, dropping us off at La Malene).  Andy understandably v keen, but the reception thought that the there were a few rapids to navigate that a complete beginner might not enjoy so much. Andy decided to go it alone but there were no other takers at the campsite (minimum of 4 needed) so he gave up on that plan.

Again, only a fast traffic narrow road, lots of bends  outside the campsite, no footpaths at all, and I didn't have the confidence to ride the electric bike to Riviere Sur Tarn, the nearest village. I developed a painful sunburn on my lower lip (not enough lip screen).

Fab cliffs ! Deliciously cold river in 30C heat

Kiddies pool I would love to take Amila to

What a view from the swimming pool!
