Andy set off for his epic canoeing trip the length of the gorge and I walked to 'a most beautiful village' , along the river from St Martin Sur Ardeche, across the road bridge and a slog uphill the other side to the cliff top village itself, it took about 40 mins at a brisk pace. Very quiet first thing in the morning.
Late afternoon I went to wait by the Ardeche river drop off point about 4.30 pm and by a miracle spotted Andy in his stripey jumper making his way towards the landing area!
Tired but triumphant. Action photos to come. Meanwhile, I loved the Renaissance decorated church in Aigueze , dating from the 11th century ; it's ornate beauty took my breath away
