Went for a beach swim at Hirtshals , before setting off for the drive through Denmark. We watched a huge ferry come in across the way from the clear, flat, calm shallow water we were wading through
Suddenly ( what seemed to me to be) a huge wave came rushing in ; we both ran into shore , and I found it terrifying. Andy was more sanguine , but concerned that the car key in the swimming bag on the shore would get submerged and damaged in sea- water
I could not be persuaded to go back out as the waves seemed to come in forever
I've now added fear of huge waves to fear of jellyfish when swimming.
Hirtshals camp site is enormous , it's a transition camp, with motorhomes and caravans arriving and leaving from early on each morning. It's unsettling.
We drove 276 miles in heavy rainstorms with forked lightning...
Camped up at a family campsite with a beach , as the motorhome stellplatz (near a very attractive town) was full when we arrived there at 6.30 pm
