Ireland Tuesday 11th April Dingle - Slea Head drive - Killarney Co Kerry

Today we travelled 104 miles. It rained heavily all day. Tonight there is hail in the heavy showers.

We drove to Dingle, Andy bought a sweater, all the coffee shops were full so we returned to the van parked in the harbour car park, changed our clothes and had lunch. We drove around the Slea  head of Dingle peninsula; even in rain , it was beautiful to behold, we spotted the Blasket Islands off the coast.  This is apparently a good area for dolphin watching. As winds and rain of 100 kph are forecast tonight for the next 24 hours, we decided to head inland to Killarney, to a sheltered campsite. We walked 5 minutes through an estate and across a busy road to the Old Mill bar in the Heights hotel where we enjoyed a meal out (hang the expanse!)

  1. Brandon Mountain (an Irish Munro) is a brilliant ridge walk on the Dingle Peninsula. It's a bit like the Five Sisters of Kintail but narrower and steeper on the north side.
