Walked into Galway city centre ( 5 k) past this extremely handsome art deco cinema on the front

Eyre Square in centre of town
Met up with Martina , the only surviving sibling in the family of my late step father Tommy Holland. Together, having checked with a local undertaker (who also was selected to perform in the Rose of Tralee contest), that it was unregulated and permissible to scatter Tommy's ashes from his favourite bridge over the River Corrib. It poured with rain as we performed the ceremony. I recited the Celtic blessing whilst playing 'Sitting on the dock of the bay' and scattering the ashes from a whiskey tin container at the same time. Martina said that Tommy would have approved of the container; in fact he wouldn't have wanted to come out 🙂. We retired to the Taffe, the oldest music pub in Galway City to raise a glass to Tommy, catch up on family news and listen to some trad folk music as the rain teemed down outside. It was good to see Martina again, last time was Tommy's funeral 7 years ago.
