Set off from the campsite , leaving the van on the site , equipped with an overnight bag. We are looking forward to a night in a hotel in Dublin city centre, eye-wateringly expensive, a birthday gift from Andy .
Went to see Tartuffe in the afternoon , an updated version of a 17th century French satire play on the hypocrisy of the aristocracy and the pious, still relevant, funny and clever, in rhyming couplets. I studied it at French A level. The audience loved it . The Abbey National Theatre was a comfortable, spacious venue at reasonable cost.
We walked to the Marlin hotel in the pouring
rain navigating crowded pavements and a sea of umbrellas .Here is the foyer, a contemporary design feel to the hotel
The simple room had the comfiest large bed ever and a spacious rainshower
We dried off, enjoyed a hot shower and found a vegetarian restaurant 6 mins walk away, 'Cornucopia', for a birthday meal. Fantastic night's sleep
