Day 16

Day 16 Biscarosse. Jets joined by artillery range exercises today , so unnerving running on beach with sound of continuous mortar fire in background , no wave  boarding for Andy today , waves too strong.   Left this lovely ( but too noisy) forest glade  Aire behind and called in at the lower estang Biscarosse et parentis , for a shallow calm freshwater   swim, oil rig in view and oil platforms in middle . Fetched up at Baie Eromadie , 110 miles down the coast,  a 20 min  up hill walk from St Jean de Luz ,at  the camp site ' au bord de la mer ' 18€per night ( with ACSI card which arrived by post at campsite today ,courtesy of Ellen ) camp site on steep  hillside overlooking sea ,  populated with mainly French and German surfers ,  v hot showers .Walked into St Jean de Luz early evening , out of season, smart resort slightly dated/faded, ( prob similar to Biarritz just up the coast ) smart small shops and affordable restaurants ( prix fixe menu) away from the quay , however , both so  v tired we  found the railway station and got a taxi back to campsite
