Day 18

Day 18 - awake early , shower at 7.30 am still dark outside  , left camp site  by 10 am drove into Pyrenees for the first time , and after just 42 miles decided to base ourselves in an Aire just outside St Jean de Pied a Port, nr the jai alai stadium (Basque form of Pelota) Walked into town , panoramic hill  views from the citadel ( fortified since 15 century to keep Spanish armies at bay  ) This town is the first entry point for walkers to start on the 566 km long Camino De Santiago , which takes about 6 weeks to complete .Andy and I have now visited both start and finish towns , without walking any of the way . Walked around mediaeval old town , interesting but touristy , along River Nive and back to van
