30 minute walk to the railway station past the main Marina in Mandlieu Napoule at top speed to catch the 10.15 am train to Nice , 20£ return 40 mins duration. Hailed a Bolt taxi on arrival to take us to the Marc Chagall museum up in the hills over looking Nice . €6.20. Delighted with this new exhibition which started today.

Everyone was smiling at the hopeful message of these paintings, which accurately depicts the sufferings of the Jews , the pogroms and the exodus but his paintings also give a sense of hope for humanity . I'd love to have met him. He sounded like a decent human in the midst of great turmoil and suffering.
Matisse museum.' The swimming pool' housed in a handsome terracotta town house 30 minutes walk all up hill from Chagall. Matisse was another artist who settled here .The little pianist in a blue dress
