We had booked for 3 days but decided to cut our losses and move on. We parked at a sandy ( ish) beach 20 mins on from the campsite which was all closed up and idyllic to swim in , waters crystal clear and very peaceful Dozed in the sun. I thought of Eric Rohmer's classic French films set on the beach.Plage de La Capte.
We headed for Cassis a 2 hour drive using tolls as there was no booking ahead and only one 2 star campsite suitable. This campsite ( another Les Cigales) was wonderful by comparison to the last one . Hedges for privacy and spacious pitches ( you know how much the English love their hedges) up in the hills above Cassis. Bus stops outside the campsite to Cassis and Marseille. Cool at night and no mozzies🎉 We chose to walk down to Cassis with our swimming things ( 20 mins ) for a quick swim and caught the bus back up. Very happy to be here.
