Sad to be leaving this attractive rural spot , here is a colourful fence outside the St Saturnine aire which goes no where...

3 hours driving South on toll roads ( expensive bliss) we arrive at our next stop en route to the Cote d'Azur . The University city of Bourges with its UNESCO listed gothic cathedral is the only one without a transept.
The stained glass Cathedral windows were beautiful , if the stories , pictorially, were a little graphic.
The reparation work here seems to go on for ever. Sadly, the steps leading up to the Cathedral were full of weeds, giving it a neglected feel.
The streets between our aire , on the outskirts , and the cathedral , led to the highest spot in the city . The route up to it was filled with vaping shops , CBD shops, cafes, hairdressers , tabacs ,and the occasional left wing haunt.
Glimpses of half timbered houses on the way
The Bourges city aire ( which we paid for and booked ahead including EHU) was very neglected with overgrown weeds and there were several abandoned cars and rusting motorhomes nearby. However, it's right next to a canal towpath with access to miles of easy cycle paths and the aire waste disposal site worked well, even if the electricity didn't . It was a very quiet and peaceful night although I didn't sleep well.Too tired to go to the basket ball game😞
