Well, one of us slept soundly and the other one didn't, owing to the ferry traffic noise . Resolved not to do that again!
Boarded the ferry very smoothly. It was pretty empty. Excellent outside cabin including a comfy double bed - wow!
Smooth crossing, though the wind was picking up as we got nearer to Holland.
Hook of Holland/Rotterdam is an absolutely massive port with ships in motion all the time.
We drove north to Amsterdam, and found Camping Zeeburg at about 7:30 pm CET. It's a very nicely set up campsite with easy access to Amsterdam. It's surrounded by water on all sides. One side is not for through traffic, and there are many houseboats
Some old houseboats -:
Some new-:
The other side is a thoroughfare, with big barges at regular intervals
I met a heron
So you don"t recommend overnight parking at Harwich Port? Anyway, glad to hear you've arrived in Netherlands okay.
ReplyDeleteIt's noisy Roger. Vans are directed to park on the left of the entrance, with a busy road used by trucks all night just the other side of the fence. Depends on your sensitivity to that - I slept right through!
