Wed 29th May Alannia El Prats NR Tarragona to Peniscola

We stayed an extra few days at the Alannia Campsite taking advantage of the  sea swimming one minute from our van and a heated swimming pool on site, and lots of  resting and reading. (I've just downloaded Don Quixote. Andy has  decided to abandon Ulysses for now).

We cycled to Cambrils, 7 Kms away, I walked on the unsurfaced road bit as it was rocky with occasional stepping cambers.

We didn't make it to drive to  Tarragona, not enough energy sadly.

We were both very sad to leave this excellent campsite  behind. It only became noisier at the weekend , with families arriving, some  babies  definitely didn't find the change  of air to their liking!

Other places are really only reachable by car or bus from this campsite Recommended .

We drove south  for 70 miles in the hottest part of the day to a campsite more accessible to a town on foot - Peniscola (pronounced Penyiscola with the emphasis on the i!)

Very tourist oriented quite upmarket coastal  town half hour walk along a wide paseo to the old town and the  Knights Templar castle

Lovely walk along the beaches with stops for water and coffee

Sad to leave this heated pool behind

The old town and castle which features in series 6 of the Game of Thrones ( Meerees forthold) and El Cid

Thursday 23-26 May Allania campsite Costa Dourada

Pulled off  the road to take a phone call and snagged a low lying power line around our TV aerial. Andy managed to un-snag it without being electrocuted!

We drove to the coast (128 miles) on th   Costa Dourada for a long weekend break at Allania  campsite with a pool. Near Tarragona. Plan to relax, swim in the sea and the pool, go to the gym. Confort pitch near a beach side bar (24€ per night ACSI rates)

Plan to visit nearby Tarragona on Monday

Weather was  sunny and warm 20-22 C

Monday 20th May Cussac - South of Toulouse

Drive of 240 miles on toll roads passing through  beautiful LOT countryside and tempting signs for  mediaeval villages. Torrential rains off and on all day. Struggling to find a good fit between our European Gaz (cooker fridge heating ) adaptor and garage pumps, tried two so far, down to 75% in one gas tank, the other tank empty). Hoping for better luck in Spain!
