3 hour drive using motorways and tolls through flat green landscapes. Ligny and nearby Bar le Duc are gateway towns to the Jura region. A village d' etape ( Def is 'a charming village under 5000 inhabitants near a motorway ) Parked overnight in an ex municipal camp site site with excellent showers , warm and spotlessly clean. Noise from nearly road not too disturbing. Andy's toes were hurting ( painful ligaments) so we did a short circuit around the town which looked very empty of shops and decaying houses. Painkillers and ice pack from Pharmacy helped Andy a pain. Helpful female assistants .Good walking cycling trails nearby (apparently)
